Tracing back to the history of the Japanese script
The Japanese language has 3 systems. They have syllabaries of hiragana and katakana. This category is an old and traditional form where as Kanji is a system which supports the syllabaries and the Chinese characters. However in the form of Kanji they incorporate both Chinese and Japanese in both speech and written.
Kanji
Kanji is a form which is best represented by images. They correlate the picture to what they want to say. They are also represented as morpheme. Morpheme is a part of the word. This technique was passed on from the Chinese language. Kanji also has a different form of pronounciation. They follow certain syllabulls. However, Kanji is more lenient and has explored various countries which has made significant alterations.
They have 2 forms of reading the on’yomi and the kun’yomi. On’yomi focuses on the prounouciations of particular workds and the kun’yomi also known as multi-kanji coumpound words is used when stating someones surname, spefically in reading. Reading plays a big role with the Kanji because of the lateration and the adoption of the education system. Back in the 8000 they has various ‘double meaning’ of words. For instance, the word dance can correlate to tortoise shell or writing. Now based on the sign it has a different meaning.
How did Kanji come to Japan?
As mentioned above, Kanji has been passed down through the Korean Peninsula. It was a place close to Japan which is why it led to the affect on the writing system. When this language was being passed down, Japan didn’t have any form of writing. The progress began when the Chinese immigrants first began using it to converse. After a 500 AD a group of devotes where the one who made it official in the scripture of Japanese.
Kana
Kana is used for the characters of Japanese. However, this form was also passed down from the Chinese. This method writing was commonly used in poetry or by women. This form of writing was not considered ethical or to use for any historical records or official documents. However another form was adopted known as the Hiragana. This was used spefically for prounounciations. Because of vastness of the languae they have adopted this form for all official wriiten documents.
