The Railway entrance examinations are held for the selection of technical and non–technical cadres in the Indian Railways. The Railway Recruitment Board conducts the RRB Exams. RRB recruitment is a highly competitive annual process. Thousands of RRB Vacancies for different RRB Exams are announced every year to recruit eligible candidates to work in the Indian Railways.

Age limit: 18 minimum and about 32-33 years at maximum

Educational Qualification: Requisite educational qualifications in order to pass the recruitment process for the various RRB Exams

Citizenship: A citizen of India or A Person who has migrated from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam and wishes to permanently reside in India are also eligible

What is the mode of exams?

Brief Details about various RRB examinations:

1. RRB NTPC

The Railway Recruitment Board conducts RRB NTPC exams for eligible graduate or undergraduate candidates for the posts of Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC), i.e., Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice and Station Master in various zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways

2. RRB ALP

Railway recruitment board (RRB) conducts RRB ALP and Technician Exam to recruit Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician for different railway zones across the country. This is a national level exam; however, RRB releases vacancy for different zones separately. The exam is being conducted in multiple phases, First Stage CBT, Second Stage CBT, Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification

3. RRB JE

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts RRB JE for total 13487 vacancies for the posts :

  • Junior Engineer (JE)
  • Junior Engineer (Information Technology) [JE(IT)]
  • Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA)

4. RRB Group D

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts RRB Group D exam on the behalf of Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) from eligible candidates for various posts in Level 1 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix in various units of Indian Railways like Track Maintainer Grade IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Engineering, Mechanical and S&T Departments), Assistant Points man and level-1 posts in other departments
