Important tips for French B1 and the examinations:
Exam details –
This examination consists of 4 modules: listening, writing, reading and speaking.
The listening examination will carry a duration of about 25 minutes. The questions asked will be based on 3 recordings which you will hear. The recordings will only be played twice so make sure to note down all the needed data. Each recording will run for a maximum of 6 minutes. The listening examination is calculated out of 25 marks.
The reading part of the examination will consist of reading comprehensions. These questionnaires will be divided into 2 different passages. Make sure to collect the useful information depending on the subject. Also ensure to analyse the texts carefully and absorb the general idea that they are expressing. This examination will have a duration of 35 minute and will be marked out 25 points.
The writing will have a duration of 45 minutes. You will be asked to express your opinions and your perspective on general worldwide topics or even personal topics. The required form could be asked to be written as a letter, essay, article, email etc. It is important to give great detail to the form you are writing in and make sure to check all the boxes based on the requirements. This examination will also consist of 25 points.
The speaking examination will last up to 15 minutes as well as the 10 mins for preparation. The examination is divided into 3 parts. The first part will be a guided conversation with your examiner about a given topic. The second part will be an interactive exercise which could either be conducted with a fellow candidate or an examiner. Make sure to address the person whom you’re talking to in the right manner.
The 3rd and last part will be a chance for you to express your opinions on a document or an issue. During this part make sure to express yourself well and show the examiners that you’re ready to look and face the world. This part of the examination will also consist of 25 marks.
Exam cracking tips –
All the tips learnt during this course will guide you through your examination. Remember to pace yourself. Don’t stress. Work on the different strategies provided to you. When reading make sure to underline or highlight the important fact. During writing beware of your time. Keep yourself focused.
Don’t deviate to another topic or factor, focus on one and keep building the idea. Read the instructions carefully. Follow them and make sure that you’re rechecking your answers. During the listening test make sure to write down important dates, names etc. Make sure to always keep your focus. When you’re calm and centered you can achieve it all.
