Important tips for French C1 and the examinations:
Exam details –
The French C1 examination consists of 4 modules: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
The listening section of this examination will carry a duration of 40 minutes. The listening comprehension surrounded these topics. The first recording will be a long conversation which could either be an interview, lessons, conference etc. The recording could last for about 8 minutes. This part will only be played twice. The second recording can be several short radio broadcasts, surveys, advertisements etc. Although this recording will only be played one. This examination will carry a total mark of 25.
The reading part will carry a duration of 50 minutes. The questions asked during this examination will revolve around the passage itself. The passage would be about 1,500 to 2,000 words. The passage could be literally or in a form of journalism. This part of the examination will be marked out of 25.
The writing part of the examination will be divided into 2 parts. This examination will be for 2 hours 30 minutes. The first part I designed to where you would need to summarise different texts with keeping in mind the word count of 1,000. The second part is to construct an essay expressing your opinions based on the given contents. You will be asked to chose from the fields of humanities, social studies or science. Based on the chosen topic you will be required to format the essay.
The speaking module of the examination will be your expressions and your opinions on a given topic and a conversation with the examiners. Remember to keep your head high and express your opinions in the best way possible. The examination will have a duration of 30 minutes and a 1-hour preparation time. The exam will carry out 25 marks.
Exam cracking tips –
All the tips learnt during this course will guide you through your examination. Remember to pace yourself. Don’t stress. Work on the different strategies provided to you. When reading make sure to underline or highlight the important fact. During writing beware of your time. Keep yourself focused. Don’t deviate to another topic or factor, focus on one and keep building the idea. Read the instructions carefully. Follow them and make sure that you’re rechecking your answers. During the listening test make sure to write down important dates, names etc. Make sure to always keep your focus. When you’re calm and centred you can achieve it all.
